Da Vinci Code rapist to remain behind bars

THE Da Vinci Code rapist has been ordered to serve another year.

Robert Greens (35) still faces a further sentence for flouting a Sexual Offences Prevention Order imposed to allow the authorities to monitor his behaviour.

On February 27 he was brought back before the judge who jailed him for ten years for the drug-fuelled rape of a 19-year-old Dutch student near Rosslyn Chapel.

Greens, freed by the parole board in January last year after serving six years and eight months of his sentence, could have faced a further 3496 days behind bars under rules designed to deter prisoners from offending while on licence.

Judge Lord Mackay of Drumadoon could have taken into account the order he made extending Greens’ licence conditions by seven years as well as the remaining part of the ten year jail term.

Greens nine months of freedom ended when he was spotted, on his bike, near a Tesco supermarket in Edinburgh Road, Penicuik, last October 24.

A Sexual Offences Prevention Order banned him from the Midlothian town.
