Dalkeith chef has recipe for success
Ashley Glen who is top SQA Hospitality student in Scotland.
A sixth year Dalkeith High pupil has been named Scotland’s top hospitality student – and received her award from celebrity chef Tom Kitchin.
Ashley Glen achieved the highest mark for the Intermediate 2 Hospitality Practical Cookery course, beating off strong competition from more than 7,000 pupils across Scotland.
David Robertson, principal teacher of home economics at Dalkeith High, said: “Ashley was always confident in the kitchen, self-aware and had a responsible attitude.
“She was a pleasure to have in class and thoroughly enjoyed cooking. I wish her all the best in her sixth year studies.”
Headteacher Colin Gerrie added: “Finishing as the highest attaining student in Scotland in hospitality is a wonderful achievement and it is one that she will remember for the remainder of her life.”
Almost 18,000 pupils from across Scotland benefited from Quality Meat Scotland’s School Meat Voucher Scheme last year.
