Dalkeith firm’s burning desire to win contract

A Dalkeith company has won a new green energy contract that will deliver renewable heat to public sector buildings.

The Scottish Government has plans to supply renewable heat using Biomass wood fuel.

The contract is expected to save taxpayers up to £8.5 million and more than 198,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide over the next four years.

Buccleuch Bioenergy Ltd will supply wood fuel from sustainable sources and, if required, install wood-burning boilers.

The buildings affected include central government, fire, police, health, local authorities, universities and colleges.

The company said: “We are delighted to have successfully won the tender.

“We look forward to being able to provide renewable energy solutions to the public sector in the Lothian and Borders regions and further afield. We hope to see the Buccleuch Bio-Energy team expand, allowing us to support new projects.”
