VILLAGERS in northern Bangladesh, suffering from the region’s coldest temperatures for decades, have received a warming gesture from a Dalkeith restaurateur 5,000 miles away.

Matin Khan, boss of multi award-winning Dalkeith restaurant Itihaas, donated £400 worth of blankets to be distributed to some of the more than 200,000 people affected by freezing winds blowing down from the Himalaya mountain range.
