Dalkeith restaurateur provides blanket aid
NEWTONGRANGE: Matin Khan at the Mining Museum
VILLAGERS in northern Bangladesh, suffering from the region’s coldest temperatures for decades, have received a warming gesture from a Dalkeith restaurateur 5,000 miles away.
Matin Khan, boss of multi award-winning Dalkeith restaurant Itihaas, donated £400 worth of blankets to be distributed to some of the more than 200,000 people affected by freezing winds blowing down from the Himalaya mountain range.
Normally tropical, Bangladesh has been experiencing its lowest temperatures in 40 years and scores of people have died.
