Dalkeith store relaxes parking restrictions

PARKING restrictions at a Dalkeith store are to be reduced after complaints from shoppers.

Customers will now be allowed two hours free parking at Lidl's Newmills Road store, with the circumstances of elderly or disabled shoppers also taken into account.

As reported in last week's Advertiser Councillor Colin Beattie (SNP) is currently dealing with 28 individual complaints on the matter and, after taking the issue up with the retailer, has secured some compromise from Lidl.

He said: "They agreed that, while they won't change the signs, they are willing to give people a half hour grace so they won't be charged until they have been in the car park for two hours."

Lidl confirmed the parking limit had been extended. A spokeswoman said: "We have relaxed the 90 minutes free parking to two hours at the store in Dalkeith at the request of our customers."
