Diana Award for Penicuik teenager
Penicuik High School pupil Daniel Baigrie, who won a Diana Champion Volunteer Award
A TEENAGER’S drive to improve Penicuik town centre has won him a national award.
Daniel Baigrie (16), has been named as a Diana Champion Volunteer in the Diana Awards. The scheme was founded in 1999 by the UK Government as a lasting legacy to Princess Diana’s belief in the power of young people to change the world.
Daniel, a pupil at Penicuik High School, will be formally presented with the award by Midlothian Council.
The senior student was praised for the huge amount of time and effort he gave to securing the voice of young people in the community planning process.
Daniel, who lives in Penicuik with his mum Louise, dad David and 12-year-old brother Craig, said he was delighted: “I’ve always believed in making a change rather than moaning about something and then not doing anything about it.”
