Dogged effort to rescue pooch stranded down 60 foot drop in Roslin

Dogged determination saw the rescue of a Staffordshire bull terrier who became stranded down a 60ft drop in Roslin.

A pair of walkers heard five-year-old white and tan Sam barking as they made their way past Rosslyn Chapel early on Sunday afternoon.

Ledge

They spotted the pooch precariously placed on a ledge about 10ft above the River Esk and contacted the Scottish SPCA.

SSPCA Inspector Emma Phillips said: "It wasn't safe for me to attempt to recover the dog myself, so I contacted the fire brigade who sent their water team down to rescue him."
