Elizabeth Cross for mother of Dalkeith war hero

The mother of fallen Dalkeith war hero Mark Wright has been presented with the Elizabeth Cross in his memory.

Jem Wright (58), accompanied by her husband Bob, was presented with the cross by the senior Army officer in Scotland, Major General David Shaw, on behalf of Her Majesty The Queen at the Volunteer Officers' Ball in Edinburgh on Saturday evening.

Gallantry

Corporal Wright, fatally injured in an explosion while trying to save colleagues from an unmarked minefield in Helmand Province three years ago, was posthumously awarded the George Cross for gallantry.
