Family history course in Loanhead

Do you want to find out who you are? Midlothian residents can learn more about their family history at a course at Loanhead Library.

An initial information and taster session will be held in the library on Saturday, February 11, from 11am to noon when Jared Squirrell, an experienced family history researcher, will introduce the course and answer any questions.

The course has been organised as part of a joint initiative between Midlothian Council’s Library Service and genealogy experts Family History Detectives.

The six-week course will offer practical advice to anyone interested in researching their family tree. Visits, events and activities are also planned.

Participants will be shown how to research information contained in a wide range of historical records, including statutory registers, census records, old parish registers and wills and testaments.

Places are limited – to book your place, call 0131 440 0824.
