Football: Beeslack pupil Chelsea Cornet earns Scotland call-up

A MIDLOTHIAN teenager is ready to stake her claim for a national team role.

Chelsea Cornet (14) feared she had blown her chances in a below-par performance during a recent trial at Toryglen Regional Football Centre in Glasgow.

But the Beeslack Community High School pupil needn’t have worried, securing a call-up to Scotland’s under 15 girls squad. She will be among the players at the annual Bob Docherty Tournament in Belfast from April 1.

Before then, Chelsea could be among the first Scots play at St George’s Park, the FA’s national football centre in Burton-upon-Trent, in a match against the auld enemy.
