Gorebridge teen on patrol in Afghanistan

A TEENAGER from Gorebridge serving in Afghanistan has assured her parents she is "safe as houses", being looked after by Army dog, Neil.

Private Hynde Ritchie is currently patrolling bases at Camp Bastion and Lashkar Gar with her dog Neil as part of a regional rotation of Theatre Military Working Dog Support Unit taskings out in Afghanistan.

The 19-year-old Royal Army Veterinary Corps dog handler finishes her tour at the end of March and admitted: "I'm really, really going to miss him when I go home."
