Internet cheats warning

LOCAL people have been told to watch out for online swindlers.

The warning comes after a woman from Midlothian was cheated out of £710.

Speaking at a recent Gorebridge Community Council meeting, community police officer Keith McQuaid warned people to watch out for internet fraudsters.

He said the local woman was swindled over the internet when she paid for the shipping of a free husky puppy which never appeared.

He said: “The person who said they were from France, asked for more and more money. The money went to Africa. So we are warning people to be wary.”
