Leadburn wind farm plans knocked back

Plans to construct six 125-metre high wind turbines at Leadburn have been rejected.

Scottish Borders Council refused to grant Lomond Energy planning consent, given the detrimental impact the development would have on the landscape at Spurlens Rig. Councillors were also concerned at the “significant adverse impact” on the Pentland and Moorfoot Hills ranges.

The development attracted 745 objections, including those from Penicuik and District Community Council, which was concerned at the impact on the local landscape and of heavy haulage using local roads, particularly the Penicuik Conservation Area.

Midlothian Council had not formally objected, but voiced significant concerns over landscape and visual impacts together with the haulage routes for the site.

We need to get the Government onside, as well as local councils and others, if we are going to stop these monstrosities being built. Are you disillusioned by rising electricity prices, over dependence on the "green" dream [especially uneconomical and inefficient wind farms] and the destruction of our countryside then please register your objection on http:epetitions.direct.gov.ukpetitions22958 or google"wind petition norfolk" for a quick link. Please get your friends to sign up too.

The British countryside is under threat from wind farms. These infefficient forms of energy are paid for by us, on our electricity bills and those of British industry, making us less competitive on the open market We are being forced to pay to destroy our landscape and biodiversity. If you object simply google Reduce electricity bIlls petition 22704 and vote. We have almost 5,000 votes already. Tweet the petition round, ask friends to retweet and family members to sign too.
