Lid put on karaoke noise at Dalkeith pub

Measures have been put in place to keep a lid on the noise made by karaoke singers at a Dalkeith pub.

Midlothian Licensing Board has granted a licence for the Horseshoe Bar, 14 St Andrew Street, after it was heard that the licensee Mr Jon Jeromsome had fully complied with steps to ensure all music was controlled.

The board's licensing standards officer Mark Richardson said there had been an anonymous complaint about the Horseshoe Bar.

"What he kindly calls karaoke and I call something on a Friday night with people who have very little talent and could easily be heard 50m away no longer occurs.

"Members should also be aware we have other powers we can use under the environmental protection act.

"I am happy to say, thus far, Mr Jeromsome is co-operating," he added.
