Midlothian housing FAQs answered on new Facebook page

Young people seeking information on housing in Midlothian can now access a Facebook page dedicated to answering their queries and offering advice.

Midlothian Council has introduced the new facility in response to an increasing number of enquiries coming from young people aged 25 and under.

Councillor Owen Thompson (SNP), cabinet member with responsibility for housing, said; “The council has two tenant groups but we have found that the younger age groups don’t tend to come to these meetings, so we were keen to provide information in a way that we knew would hit home.

“Facebook is an ideal platform to reach this audience with the information they are looking for.

“With major welfare reforms imminent which will dramatically affect young people’s housing prospects it is vital that they have a free and accessible way to contact the council’s housing department.”
