Midlothian school review sparks fears

SHOCKED parents have bristled at Midlothian Council proposals to review the county’s faith primary schools.

Last week, the Advertiser revealed plans to examine the building fabric and pupil rolls at seven schools – Sacred Heart in Penicuik, St Andrew’s in Gorebridge, St David’s in Dalkeith, St Luke’s in Mayfield, St Margaret’s in Loanhead, St Mary’s in Bonnyrigg and St Matthew’s in Rosewell.

Councillor Lisa Beattie (SNP), the council’s education portfolio holder, stressed that faith schools were part of a wide-ranging review of the entire school estate.

But parents of pupils at faith schools have expressed their concerns.
