New cop for community
New Community Officer Keith McQuade Police Station, Hunterfield Road, Gorebridge
GOREBRIDGE has a new community police officer and locals are hoping he stays around for longer than his predecessors.
PC Keith McQuaid (49), was deployed to the small town in December, after serving in the mounted section for seven years. His appointment follows three officers taking on the post in the past four years, with one of them having two spells in that time.
But PC McQuaid has enjoyed a warm welcome in Gorebridge. He told the Advertiser that he hopes to buck that recent trend and build a good relationship with the local community.
One of the community groups PC McQuaid hopes to build a strong relationship with is the Gorebridge Community Council. He met them for the first time at their last meeting in January and will now do so monthly.
Archie Pacey from the local group bemoaned the lack of a settled community officer in Gorebridge.
