New parish minister

A NEW minister was welcomed to a Midlothian church recently.

Reverend Alan Cobain (45), was inducted into the Tyne Valley Parish on February 7 at a service held in Cranstoun Church, led by the Rev Jennifer Macrae, Moderator of Lothian Presbytery.

Cranstoun Church was full for the service with people from across the parish, friends and family of Alan, members from his last church (St Nicholas in Edinburgh) and representatives of Lothian Presbytery.

Following the service, there was an informal evening of thanks and speeches with tea, sandwiches and cakes.

Tyne Valley Parish’s last minister, Graham Leitch, retired in March 2012.
