Newbattle High gets in the red

The Newbattle girls who ran five miles for Comic Relief

The Newbattle girls who ran five miles for Comic Relief

Teachers and pupils at Newbattle Community High School dressed down last week, to raise funds for Comic Relief.

Many wore their ‘Onesies’ to school, while other fundraising events included a coffee morning and a mad hair day. With sponsorship money still to come in, the school had raised more than £1,100 as the Advertiser went to press, £501.50 of which came from seven first and second year girls who ran five miles for the charity.

The girls - Lauren Miller, Amy Weighand, Rachel Ramsay, Rachel Paul, Niamh Fellenger, Keryn Firth and Lisa Robertson - organised the run themselves, starting at Mossend in Gorebridge and running near to Vogrie, Blinkbonny Mine, Mayfield, Newtongrange and finishing in Gorebridge.
