Newbattle needs new school, says MSP

Newbattle Community High School

AN IMPROVING Midlothian school deserves a better building, an MSP claims.

Colin Beattie (SNP) is calling on the Scottish Government to prioritise a replacement for Newbattle Community High School, which he believes is “past its sell-by date”.

Speaking during a debate in the Scottish Parliament last week, the MSP for Midlothian North argued that a new facility for Newbattle should be one of around 30 schools proposed for the next tranche of capital projects.

Mr Beattie highlighted the work of staff and students in raising attainment levels in recent years.
