Penicuik club shows it cares for local charities

A PENICUIK miners' club has been digging deep to support local charities. A series of charity nights are taking place in Shottstown Miners' Club with local groups and organisations benefiting. Club member Frank Martin, who has been organising the programme of concerts with James McInroy, explained the idea behind the events was twofold. "We have tried to get the club back on an even footing as it was close to closing in February. We have been giving a hand to try and liven it up. The

Beeslack Family Disabled Club received 250 raised at the first concert and Pentland House, the old people's home, was awarded 200 after the second. The Lothian Special Olympics team is to benefit from the third concert.

The club, based in Edinburgh Road, is keen to kear from other local charities who require financial assistance. Write to James or Frank c/o Shottstown Miners's Club.
