Penicuik pupils inspired by woodland
PENICUIK High School pupils have been looking to the other side of the world for inspiration.
S1 students visited Penicuik Estate where two Douglas Firs were felled to be transformed into totem poles.
The pupils are all working towards the John Muir Award and as part of their project are looking at how John Muir developed his environmental philosophies while living in North America.
The school has joined forces with Fifer Kenny Grieve, who has been given the authority by the Squamish people to conduct the felling ceremony.
