Penicuik toilets are too dear!
Penicuik and District Community Council is still trying to flush out answers from the local authority over the cost of public toilets for the local park.
At a previous meeting, Midlothian councillors have explained that the 245,000 estimate meant the public conveniences would be inconvenient.
When community council treasurer Jamie Tennent raised the question again about having public toilets in Penicuik Public Park councillor Ken Brown said it was "ar too expensive" at the quoted rate.
Chairman Ian Watson said: "There is an estimate cost for the public convenience in the public park that has come in at a insignificant total of 250,000.
Portable toilets
"I am thinking of some pretty serious investment in gold taps."
Mr Tennent agreed the cost was "a bit crazy" and asked: "Is it too dear and that's it?"
Community councillor Penny Wooding noted that Rosslyn Chapel had portable toilets.
"They seem to have been there for a long time and they don't seen to have been damaged," she added.
Mr Watson agreed that this was an alternative suggestions, which could be put to the council, and councillor Brown agreed to follow the issue up.
