Penicuik woman's close shave for charity

A Penicuik woman is preparing for her second close shave in aid of charity.

Kirsty Blackwood (37) has been growing her hair in preparation for having it all cut off next month.

Nikki Fife from Encee Hair Studio will shave Kirsty's head to raise money for Marie Curie Cancer Care.

The duty officer at the Penicuik Centre is hoping to raise 1000 for the charity, which provided care at its Fairmile hospice for her father William prior to his death in January.

The hair cutting will take place at their leisure centre on Saturday, July 11, at 2pm.

If enough of Kirsty's hair is cut off, it is hoped it can be sent to a cancer charity to be made into a wig for a child.

This is the second time Kirsty, who lives in Pentland Avenue, has had her head shaved for charity.

Four years ago she went under the razor to raise 2200 for the Maggie's Centre.
