Penicuik rallies to help MS sufferer Joanna Leighton

A COMMUNITY has rallied to help a 26-year-old multiple sclerosis victim who has also suffered a massive stroke.

Joanna Leighton, who had the stroke two years ago, is delighted to have taken delivery of a new chair, which will help make her life more comfortable.

The Penicuik community has been so touched by Joanna's plight it has launched a major fundraising effort to meet the 3,000 cost of the Phoenix 400 support chair.

Mum Frances (61) said her daughter was "very happy and very relaxed" with her custom-built chair, which has been finished in pink – Joanna's favourite colour.

A sponsored walk on Sunday, April 24, will leave Jean's Place in the town centre precinct at 2pm.
