A LOCAL councillor is calling on residents in Mayfield to come together to re-ignite community spirit.

Speaking at the recent Mayfield Community Council meeting, Councillor Lisa Beattie (SNP) revealed that she had heard from local people who felt isolated in their own community.

She now wants to set up regular get-togethers to stop new people in the area becoming strangers, in what she believes is a friendly community.

Robert Hogg, chairman of Mayfield and Easthouses Community Council, told the Advertiser he welcomed Councillor Beattie’s comments but believed that locals already came together as one in good numbers.
