Police HQ moves to Dalkeith

The regional Lothian command hub for the new Scotland-wide police force is to be based in Dalkeith.

A command team for the Lothians and Scottish Borders is now located at Dalkeith Police Station, whilst operational delivery by front line police officers will continue to be delivered locally within the four local authorities of the new ‘J Division’ - Midlothian, East Lothian, West Lothian and the Scottish Borders.

The restructuring sees the City of Edinburgh become a separate ‘E Division’.

J Division Chief Superintendent Jeanette McDiarmid said: “The move to Police Scotland has involved significant change to existing divisions throughout Scotland.

“In deciding on a location for the headquarters of the Lothians and Scottish Borders we have taken into account many factors including accessibility to all parts of the new division, ITC, access to services and efficiency.”
