Police hunt after Dalkeith attack

A police investigation is under way after a young man was assaulted and robbed outside a Dalkeith betting shop on Saturday evening.

The 25-year-old victim had just left the Scotbet shop in Woodburn before walking to Woodburn Avenue and then Woodburn Park, where he was approached by three men at about 6.15pm.

Robbed

One of the group punched him in the face and robbed him of a small amount of cash.

The assailant is described as white, in his mid thirties, 5ft 8ins to 5ft 9ins tall, of stocky build, clean-shaven, wearing a red baseball cap and a white jacket.

The second suspect is described as white, 5ft 8ins tall, of skinny build, with dark hair and wearing dark clothing, while the third man is white, 6ft 2ins tall, medium build, with dark hair and dark clothing.

Shaken

A police spokesman said: "Although the victim did not require hospital treatment, he was still shaken as a result of what happened.

"We are appealing for anyone who witnessed the assault, or who was in the Woodburn area of Dalkeith on Saturday afternoon and noticed the suspects, to contact police.

"Similarly, anyone else who recognises their descriptions should also get in touch."
