Police move in to Midlothian schools

Police are introducing Youth Community Officers into local schools in a bid to enhance links with young people.

PC Katy Johnstone has taken on the role of YCO for the Dalkeith campus, while PC Lynne Cochrane, who is working with Newbattle High School, is also maintaining links with local primary schools and Saltersgate School in the Dalkeith area.

The new roles, which build on the close co-operation that already exists between the police and local schools, have been developed through consultation with Midlothian Council and the headteachers of schools within the area.
