Post Office on the move
Dalkeith Post Office has relocated a couple of hundred yards down the road to the town's branch of WH Smith on the High Street.
Post Office Limited have said the new outlet will be one of the most modern in the network of 14,500 post offices when it opened on November 8.
The full range Post Office products and services will still be available to the public and the premises are fully compliant with the Disability Discrimination Act.
Longer opening hours will also mean customers can make use of post office services when it is most convenient for them.
WH Smith regional manager, Ian Rowley said: "This move follows the successful relocation of six post offices into WH Smith stores last year, where customer feedback highlighted the benefits of the change, including shorter queues, longer opening hours and convenient location.
Customers
"At a time when many post offices are under threat of closure, the partnership between WH Smith and the Post Office safeguards the future of main post office services for the local community.
"WH Smith and Post Office Ltd are both totally committed to ensuring customers get the best possible service at the new branch.
"A dedicated team of WH Smith and Post Office Ltd managers will be working closely together on a continuing basis to monitor and develop all aspects of the branch."
He added that the extensive selection of stationery and associated goods offered by WH Smith would complement the wide range of main post office services at the new outlet.
