Rewards given for recycling

A MIDLOTHIAN store is part of a government-backed project to encourage the recycling of drinks containers.

IKEA at Straiton is trialling a Recycle and Reward Scheme, which will reward people for recycling glass, aluminium and plastic (PET) drinks containers through a range of incentives.

Richard Lochhead MSP, the cabinet secretary for rural affairs and environment, visited the store recently to see the first of the “reverse vending” machines and hear how the retailer is introducing the scheme through its sustainability commitment.
