Rosewell Primary School upgrade on way

Council plans to extend Rosewell Primary School have been rubber-stamped by Midlothian Council’s planning committee.

Work will see three new class bases created at the rear of the existing building, together with a central atrium and resource centre. Additional features will include a new staff room; a visitor entrance and office; additional dining accommodation; a new head-teachers room and a new janitor’s office.

Councillor Owen Thompson (SNP) told the planning committee: “I’m sure local members will be delighted to see this application coming forward. It’s going to be a big benefit to the local community in Rosewell.”

Councillor Russell Imrie (Lab) felt that gaining Scottish Government approval was slowing the process of school upgrades and replacements.
