A pair of Royal Mail engineers from Midlothian are preparing a monster effort to help cancer sufferers.

Tom Doyle (48) and Steven Ryder (32) have signed up for this year’s Maggie’s Monster Bike and Hike.

The men are aiming to cycle and walk a combined 72 miles in the Highlands this May.

Tom, from Easthouses, has completed the event on five separate occasions, and is returning after a five-year hiatus.

For Steven, who hails from Penicuik, the daunting challenge will be a new experience.

The men will be running a race night and disco at Penicuik’s Craigiebield Hotel on Friday, March 29. For tickets call Steven on 01968 380 354. Alternatively you can help by donating via the www.justgiving.com/giants webpage.
