Safety concern over Loanhead pupils' shortcut

SAFETY fears are growing after Loanhead pupils have been using an industrial car park as a shortcut to school.

Staff at Swan Enviro, based in Engine Road, have erected warning posters and raised their concerns with the local police, community council, the nearby schools and Midlothian Council.

Children, some accompanied by their parents, weave through parked cars to and from the nearby campus, which houses both Loanhead and St Margaret's Primary Schools, at Ramsay Bing.

Swan Enviro works manager Ian Fraser said: "Sometimes children wander between parked cars and lorries and some of the parents aren't much better."
