‘Serious failings’ in Loanhead man’s care

A LOANHEAD family has won a two-year battle to highlight serious deficiencies in their father’s hospital treatment.

Former miner Thomas Notman was admitted to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary in February 2011 after falling at home.

He died there the following month after developing pneumonia.

His family complained to the Scottish Public Services Ombudsman about the standard of care he received.
