Seven-year-old girl in coma after collision with 4x4 vehicle in Gorebridge

A SEVEN year old girl is in a coma after being involved in a road accident in Gorebridge.

Emergency services were called to Greenhall Road, Gorebridge around 5pm on Thursday after the girl was involved in a collision with a vehicle in the street. Although not officially named, she was named locally as Shannon Power.

Police officers are making inquiries into the circumstances of the collision in which the girl received serious injuries.

She is currently being treated in the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Edinburgh.

The driver of the 4x4 involved, who stopped and has been assisting police, was not injured in the accident.

Police are appealing for anyone who was in the vicinity at the time to come forward to contact them on 101 or via the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
