Sheriffhall Park and Ride facility hits milestone

Sheriffhall Park and Ride celebrated its fifth birthday on Sunday.

Located on the A7 between Danderhall and the Sheriffhall roundabout, the facility is one of six Park and Rides which form a necklace around east, south and west Edinburgh.

Most have been developed by SEStran in partnership with local councils in Midlothian, East Lothian or City of Edinburgh.

Midlothian Council Leader Bob Constable (SNP), cabinet member with responsibility for commercial operations, said: “Happy Birthday Sheriffhall. The number of cars taken off the streets of Edinburgh thanks to this facility regularly exceeds 300 per day – now that really is something to celebrate.

“Park and Rides offer commuters a real alternative to taking their cars into the city. It helps cut down on road congestion and reduces our carbon footprint.

“Sites like Sheriffhall have an important and ongoing part to play in our strategy to keep the region moving.”
