The ‘Edinburgh sign’ at ‘the Whitegates’ in Newtongrange has been restored.

The £100 needed for the restoration of the sign, which had been there for many years, was paid for by Newtongrange Community Council. Their secretary Ron Campbell drilled the holes and fixed the letters to the sign’s backboard. He was then aided in putting the sign up by a community payback team.

The work completes the renovation of the old landmarks at the double mini-roundabout which links Dalhouse Road, Newbattle Road, Bryans Road and Main Street, Newtongrange.
