Tragedy as Mayfield bus driver, Stuart Wilson, dies at wheel
A bus driver from Mayfield died just moments after dropping off elderly passengers in Fountainbridge.
It is believed Stuart Wilson (40), suffered a burst blood vessel in his brain on the morning of Monday, November 10.
Parking attendant Stacy McAlindon, who found him slumped across the wheel of his bus, tried to save him, but he was pronounced dead on arrival at the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.
His sister Mary Skelton told our sister newspaper the Edinburgh Evening News how grateful she was to Ms McAlindon for her efforts.
They meant Mr Wilson's organs could be donated to help others, as he had wished.
Mr Wilson was brought up in Mayfield, and he attended the local primary school and Newbattle High School in Dalkeith.
He later worked for the Dove Centre, in Wester Hailes, and the Thistle Foundation, which works with people with disabilities.
He leaves his mother Ruby, three sisters, Mary, Kathleen and Jessie, and brother Alister.
