Training scheme developed in Midlothian set to go global

A GROUND breaking job training scheme developed in Midlothian could be rolled out in IKEA stores worldwide.

What started as a one-off placement four years ago has grown into opportunies for up to 40 people with disabilities a week to gain work experience in the Straiton store.

Community education support specialist, Liz Stanton, met recently with IKEA founder Ingvar Kamprad to discuss the possibility of rolling the scheme out across the chain's 302 stores worldwide, and is hoping other businesses will follow suit.
