Would you welcome fracking in Midlothian?

The UK government has lifted it’s ban on ‘fracking’ - to extract shale gas reserves from underneath the ground using hydraulic fracturing.
This process had been halted following a fracking project in Lancashire being linked to earthquakes there, but it has now been given the all-clear.
As a former coal mining area, Midlothian could be in line for applications from companies wanting to use the controversial method.
In next week’s Advertiser, we’ll be asking if this would be a welcome development in the area.
