Lights, camera, action! Filming took place last week for the Beadazzling project’s forthcoming television appeal for National Lottery funding.

The Volunteer Centre Midlothian Get Ready for Retail initiative will be seeking your vote on Monday, November 25.

The project will be vying for the People’s Millions lottery cash alongside Camphill Blair Drummond. The initiative which gains the most votes wins the funding.

Beadazzling is seeking £45,000 to provide young people with training to work in the retail sector.

As the year-long initiative develops, the youngsters, aged from 15 to 19, will open up their own pop-up jewellery shop in Dalkeith.

Last week STV cameras were in Dalkeith filming for the project’s bid for funding for the programme.

Youth services manager Karen Downie said interviewees included representatives of Skills Development Scotland and the Dalkeith branch of Superdrug.

Karen explained they were highlighting the difficulties young people face when applying for jobs without the relevant experience.
