An enthusiastic Gorebridge fundraiser has told how her African trip next summer to build a library will be a ‘dream come true’.

Donna Burton (29) will visit Ghana for three weeks in June to volunteer for charity Thrive Africa. The full-time student is currently fundraising for her latest charity event.

She said: “A girl on my course had done this project in Africa before and she told me to go for it.

“I’ll be helping to build a library. It’s like a dream come true to be going there and I’ll be giving something back.

“I do something every year to raise money for charity. I’ve done skydiving, abseiling the lot, all for different charities. They have always been children’s’ or women’s charities.

“But this is definitely the biggest thing I have done. I have to raise at least £800 to go, I want to raise double that.

“A lot of my friends are coming to my ladies’s night in March. They think I’m mad, but have been supportive.”
