Midlothian’s Angela Allen showed some of the world’s best athletes the way at the Sainsbury’s Glasgow Grand Prix.
The 47-year-old, who is the store manager at the Livingston branch of Sainsbury’s, led out the men’s javelin throwers, including eventual champion Thomas Rohler, on to the Hampden Park track.
Angela said: “I’ve never done anything like this before. I’m a very proud Scot and it was very exciting to have a small part to play.
“You can take in the noise and the atmosphere, but you can’t really pay attention.
“I was just watching in case I fell. That was the biggest thing on my mind.”
