Maggie Bisset receives her British Empire Medal

A Midlothian gymnastics coach has been presented with a British Empire Medal in recognition of her 50 years’ service to sport.

Maggie Bisset (63), from Newlandrig near Gorebridge, was nominated by Meadowbank Gymnastics Club, which she founded in 1971.

On May 2 at The Quayside restaurant in Musselburgh, the medal was presented to her by Lord Lieutenant of Midlothian Sir Robert Clerk.

More than 100 people, including friends, family, gymnasts and former gymnasts were in attendance.
