Penicuik schools take part in Penicuik Rotary's gardening challenge

Green-fingered primary school pupils have risen to a colourful gardening challenge set down by Penicuik Rotary Club.

In association with Pentland Plants, children at Cornbank, Cuiken, Mauricewood, Sacred Heart and Strathesk were invited to brighten up their school grounds.

With help from parents and staff, the pupils and nursery classes filled planters, hanging baskets and in some cases wellie boots with plant plugs. Rotarian Reg Dunbar said: “This was not a competition but purely a challenge to stimulate an interest in gardening.”
