Bonnyrigg motorcyclist killed in crash

A Bonnyrigg man was killed when his motorbike collided with a skip lorry on Saturday morning.

Keith Henderson (49) of Moffat Avenue, was driving northwards on Lasswade Road when the accident took place near the city bypass.

The incident happened at about 9.10am, around 300m south of the Lasswade slip road, while the green and white skip loader lorry was making a delivery to a local address.

Mr Henderson was rushed to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary but died from his injuries shortly after.

The road was closed and diversions were in place for around four hours while investigations were carried out at the scene.

Police are keen to trace the driver of a blue car, possibly a Citroen, which overtook the lorry while it was stopped at the address.

They would also like to talk to a motorcyclist, who was on a black or red coloured bike, which passed just before the collision.

A police spokesperson said: "We are keen to talk to both drivers, as we believe they may have vital information that could help us piece together exactly what happened in the moments leading up to the crash."

Anyone with information is asked to contact Lothian and Borders Police on 0131 311 3131.

Add your tributes to Keith Henderson below.
