The planned closure of Bonnyrigg Police Station’s public counter has prompted a war of words between rival politicians.
Announced by Police Scotland last Friday, the closure will take effect from March 3.
The opposition Labour group has accused the SNP government of taking power away from local communities.
Labour leader Derek Milligan said: “This is the sad result of the SNP’s move to centralise police decision-making.
“What we have now is a toothless Community Safety Board that can’t do anything to keep these important facilities open.”
