Diggers cut through the embankment at Hardengreen Roundabout, North of the Lothianburn viaduct, as part of the new Borders - Edinburgh rail link.

Major diversions have been announced as work continues to progress on the Borders Railway line through Midlothian.

The A7 will close between the Powdermill Brae junction and Newtonloan Toll, from 8pm on Friday, November 8 until Sunday, November 10 while a new rail bridge is installed over the A7 at Gore Glen. The road will be re-opened during Sunday for Armistice Day Parades, and could be closed again on the Sunday night

Traffic will be diverted through Gorebridge while the work is carried out.

Network Rail have also requested a closure of the A7 in the same location, with the same diversion the following Saturday, which is still to be confirmed.

In addition, to allow repairs to the Lothianbridge viaduct, traffic restrictions will be in force on the A7 under the viaduct from Monday, November 18 to Friday, November 22. During the day traffic will be managed by temporary traffic signals on manual control while at night a diversion will be in place along Newtongrange High Street.

Also, Carrington Road will be closed at the viaduct from November 25 for five days.
