Penicuik civic leaders hope to arrange a public meeting so an informed debate can take place on the proposed Mount Lothian wind farm.

Penicuik and District Community Council agreed to contact the Wind Prospect Developments Ltd and Penicuik Environment Protection Association (PEPA ) to obtain answers to each other’s claims.

Wind Prospect, which is in partnership with EDF Energy, has resubmitted a planning application for nine 102 metre high turbines near Howgate.

PEPA, established six years ago in opposition to a wind farm on Auchencorth Moss, is encouraging people to object to the latest wind farm plans for the Penicuik area.

Community council chairman Tom Salter read out correspondence from both parties.

Community councillor Jamie Tennent said: “It is a very complex set of arguments.”
